Zaccaria Giacometti
The jurist
Zaccaria Giacometti was born in 1893 in Stampa. After studying law, he pursued an academic career and became a professor of public law at the University of Zurich, where he taught for many years and educated generations of jurists. He is regarded as one of the most important figures in Swiss constitutional law in the 20th century. His work focused particularly on the rule of law, the federal structure of Switzerland, and the protection of fundamental rights. Through his publications and academic activity, he made a lasting contribution to the development of Swiss legal doctrine. He died in 1970.
