ARTipasto 2021 review, 13 - 16.05.2021
With the ARTipasto, the Val Bregaglia traditionally starts the spring season and gives a first taste of the cultural events hold in the valley. In 2021, due to Covid rules, no events were allowed during Easter. Therefore, and thanks to the great flexibility of all partners, an almost identical programme was offered from Thursday 13 to Sunday 16 May 2021.
The fifth edition of the ARTipasto started on Friday morning with two guided tours by art historian Dora Lardelli, during which unknown facts about Giovanni Segantini and the importance of his paintings created around Maloja were discussed. On Friday evening, in the hall of Palazzo Castelmur visitors watched a film about the artist Elvezia Michel - an early 20th century painter with roots in Borgonovo. On Saturday, the focus shifted to Castasegna and the Giacometti family. Luciano Fasciati presented the art project that will animate the "sala viaggiatori" (old customs house) in summer 2021, and the "Galleria il Salice" invited the exhibiting artist Wanda Guanella to an opinion exchange. In the meantime, Marco Giacometti, president of the Centro Giacometti, led two tours from Borgonovo to Stampa, passing by the Giacometti family's birthplaces. The walk ended with a visit to "Eyes that don't sleep", a sculpture by Portuguese artist Rui Chafes.
This year, the Biennale Bregaglia closed the 2021 edition of ARTipasto with the official handover of Roman Signer's work "Installazione alla Torre" to the municipality. The tower, which can be visited throughout the summer, is located above the village of Promontogno on the Nossa Dona hill.
Despite the cool temperatures and the Covid 19 regulations, more than 170 visitors attended the fifth ARTipasto.
