La Bregaglia Italiana

Border - Chiavenna

The Bragaglia Valley, geographically Italian, belongs politically to the Canton of Grisons (Switzerland), except for the lower part of the valley with the municipalities of Villa di Chiavenna, Piuro and Chiavenna in the province of Sondrio, Lombardy (Italy).

Chiavenna has always been a crossroads of cultures, thanks to its strategic position between Switzerland and Italy. The small Italian town is a "must have been" stop for tourists in transit or staying in Bregaglia or the nearby Engadin. The lively atmosphere of Chiavenna can best be appreciated on a warm summer evening, when the streets and squares of the town come alive with buskers, the stores stay open until late and various events are organized for residents and tourists.
