The chestnut, the fruit of our valley
In Brentan, above Castasegna, huge chestnut trees rise into the sky, forming one of the largest and most beautiful chestnut groves in Europe. Approximately 2000 years ago, the Romans brought the chestnut tree to Bregaglia. The trees prospered in the valley's mild climate. The chestnut forest has an interpretive trail with information panels, which give visitors the opportunity to learn more about the local flora and fauna, the varieties of chestnuts and how they are cultivated.
The Chestnut Festival
Colors, scents, flavors, these are the contours of the "Chestnut Festival". During the month of Octobre, the chestnut will be the protagonist in Bregaglia!
