Cross country skiing
200 kilometres of cross-country trails
The surroundings of Maloja and the Engadine, with their 200 km of well-prepared trails, are one of the largest cross-country paradises in the world. Unique is the diversity of the landscape, outstanding is the quality of the trails, unsurpassed is the snow safety. If you prefer a more leisurely pace, choose the "direttissima" across the three lakes or enjoy one of the longest glide zones in the Engadine near Zuoz. Ambitious people train on the legendary route of the Engadine Ski Marathon, the 42 most famous kilometres in Switzerland. The picturesque side valleys are more of a challenge, with some steep uphill and downhill stretches. Or you can do your laps on the race track near St. Moritz, where you can train on the night track until late in the evening. 15 cross-country trail vehicles ensure the best conditions every day.
A cross-country trail map and information about the cross-country trails, snow conditions and cross-country skiing courses can be obtained from the local tourist information offices. In Maloja you will find a cross-country skiing centre with a cloakroom, shower and toilet in the multi-purpose room in the basement (access via the external stairs next to the main entrance, free use).
Cross-country skiing pass
Each morning or late evening, 15 track grooming machine operators tirelessly groom the cross country ski tracks. We ask locals and guests to support these efforts by paying for passes. Doing so, you will assist the maintenance of the nordic ski tracks and support the sport at a local and national level.
