Soglio 1088 m.a.s.l. This old and picturesque little village lies high up on a sunny terraced plateau and offers a magnificent view of the Bondasca and Sciora mountain peaks. Above the roofs of the simple stone houses rise the mansions of the famous Salis-Soglio family. The “Casa Battista,” today’s Palazzo Salis Hotel, offers tourists the possibility of visiting the homes of various noble families. Other notable aristocratic houses are the “Cà Aelta,” the “Casa Antonio,” the “Casa Gubert,” and the “Palazzo Max”. Just below Soglio, the large chestnut groves yield their fruit in the autumn.
